Hey Alex, I have some questions with regards to the playlist, I know they may sound silly, but please bear with me, I'm just really trying to change a career and really land a QA job asap, my questions are: A) Are these the only thing I need to know to land a QA Job? B) Are the playlist still relevant or have any part been deprecated yet? C) Do you have any other tip, for someone who wants to land a QA Job? Who has some experience in web design, HMTL, CSS, Bootstrap, and know some programming languages such as Python, JS, Java and is equipped with a BSc and MSc Degree in IT already but has only worked as IT Support & Administrator. I’m interested in getting into QA, and have some coding experience. However, my background and resume are in tech sales (8 years). Can I still make the transition to QA testing?

Great answer! I don't mean to pick on the person asking this question, but in general, it is true that developers do not understand testing. Their view on testing is often just very shallow, failing to cover the entire scope of the project. Managers with a development background can be disastrous when in charge of testing. I've heard experienced developers say things like, "We'll start automation after the app goes live," or "Automation will catch all bugs," and "We don't need manual testing anymore, we'll automate everything."" and more. For example, at my last job a developer-turned-manager of a large project with two scrum teams after application went live suggested automating everything in-sprint and expected automation to catch all bugs without any measurable plan or tools in few weeks (LOL). After numerous attempts and meetings initiated by QAs to understand what exactly we were trying to achieve with automation, there were still no measurables, no tools selection, no plan, nothing.Six months later, testers were blamed for the "automation project taking too long", leading to outsourcing from Mexico and firing some of the in-house QAs. Now, the entire project struggles as developers who left didn't want to manually test tickets. Fiasco awaits those who misunderstand testing!

Watched this video. The info provided, sometimes is a bit misleading, since you are comparing a team with obviously bad devs. Let’s compare meta or google teams, if I’m not mistaken, they don’t have testers and QA deps. Software engineers do the testing and if you add the right kind into this person, he/she will overcome the QA engineer, since they developed the feature and know how to test it by its full coverage, while QA rarely go to code and check it under the hood. So, if you set or find the right mindset for a dev, you, probably, won’t need the QA team at all. But the cost is the leading factor here…

How can I get you too look at my resume to see if there is anything I can add or change to obtain a remote job in QA?

On LinkedIn i find it so so so so often that when I search for Software QA ENgineers or Software tester I get a lot! of job not really related to SQA. Like software engineers, or QA jobs that are non-software (R&D) and so on. I am not sure about the other job boards.

QA stands for "Quality Assurance" - if they are just going to say it is everyone's responsibility why on earth do they exists as a role?

I sometimes wonder why QA exist. They consistently miss every bug and I read lots of articles saying that QA should not be to blame for bugs being missed. My question then is - why the hell do QA exist and what is their purpose?

This was awesome! I would love it if you guys would go deeper on the insights about the Java selenium vs JavaScript cypress job market. Not so much about which is “better”, rather delve more into the state of the job markets, competition, etc. I did a bootcamp last November and we were taught Java Selenium, and yes the competition is STEEP. I still have not landed a job.
